Finding Joy in Our Green Spaces

Spring has arrived right on time, bringing with it a fresh sense of renewal! Amid the dizzying changes and unpredictability surrounding us, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about what lies ahead in 2025. Candidly, I’ve been on a news and social media diet, intentionally focusing on activities that create peace and happiness.

Gardening definitely sparks joy for me. In reflection, it always has. I cherish memories of selecting varieties and weighing out bean and corn seeds at our local garden center, then going home to plant and eventually harvest. I ended up working at that garden center throughout high school, unknowingly launching my career in the green industry.

I still recall my mom smelling like tomatoes during summer canning season, and the unbearable heat coming from the stove in our air conditionless home! Today, my love for gardening feels like a reconnection to those happy childhood memories (minus the non-cooled home part). At my home in the North Georgia mountains, our raised beds are prepped for the season and we have our cool season vegetables growing—lettuce, brussel sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower. This is our fourth year for our asparagus and it’s exciting to see the many spears popping up. Our newest addition to the garden is potato towers...we'll see how this goes!  As we wait for spring to truly arrive - with reliable non-freezing temperatures - we’ll shift focus to our landscape:  pruning, leaf cleanout, fertilization, mulching, and of course adding a few new plants.

I love the work—the creativity, the beauty, and the emotions that nature inspires.

At Plants Creative, our mission is to connect people with nature through beautiful outdoor spaces. Whether it's food gardens or landscapes - or often a combination of both - we know that this connection brings joy to our customers and positively impacts our communities. Recently, we completed a front yard renovation for a government worker who shared how meaningful it was to come home to a transformed space. He expressed that this change brought him happiness and peace amid uncertainty about his job.

As we welcome another beautiful Southern spring, we're here to support you in nurturing your outdoor spaces and creating a peaceful retreat. Reach out if you'd like help reimagining your landscape!

Let’s create joy together outdoors. Thank you for trusting us. Together, we can navigate these times and cultivate happiness and connection in our homes.

Warmly,

Pam Dooley, Owner
